Pleased to share our latest publication in The EMBO Journal on the role of DNAJC9, a J-domain protein in restricting CENP-A mislocalization. @NCIResearchCtr embopress.org/doi/full/10.10…

It was incredible to visit Dr. Camila dos Santos ' lab and her fantastic team at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory! She is a great scientist and an incredibly supportive collaborator! It was especially inspiring to learn that her lab is in the building named after Dr. Barbara McClintock.

For y'all chromosome and centromere lovers, we reveal an incredible feature of chromosome organization by decoupling the pericentromere from the kinetochore in deer mice eggs! Huge thanks to my fantastic mentor @Takashi and our collaborator Todd Macfarlan Melania Bruno.

Now published Current Biology!🎉 We showed that a mouse selfish DNA, R2d2, cheats in female meiosis by sabotaging the egg that tried to get rid of it🐭🧬 authors.elsevier.com/a/1jUse3QW8S6F…

How do karyotypes evolve? Turns out an intracellular tug of war within the metaphase spindle sets the limits for chromosome number evolution. Excited to see our study out today in Nature Cell Biology nature.com/articles/s4155… 1/9

So proud to see my summer intern, Joseph Lang, featured in the NIH IRP blog! the It's wonderful to see your hard work at Takashi Akera recognized. Great job, Joseph! We already miss your delicious cookies and cakes! irp.nih.gov/blog/post/2024…
