Such a rushed debate. Just 46 minutes of back bench speeches and insanely fast windup speech by the Minister to fit her response into 10 mins. Perfectly highlights this debate has been too short. Such an embarrassing way to make law.

Ahead of the third reading on Friday, I wish to call attention to the fact that the future of many care homes and hospices will be put in grave doubt if the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill becomes law. rcdow.org.uk/news/future-of…

Credit to Diane Abbott, she has been a voice of reason on assisted dying: "What could be more unjust than losing your life to poorly drafted legislation… …if the police fail to spot coersion during domestic violence…can they spot coersion during an assisted dying situation?"

And just like that, #AssistedDying just became a new social contract between the state and the terminally ill. Ayes 314 Noes 291. A very dark day šŸ’”

The vote in the House of Commons in favour of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is a watershed moment in the history of our country. It fundamentally changes society’s long held values and relationships on matters of life and death.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us last night in Chester. Great company, lots of laughs, and top-tier pizza (and dessert)! Grateful to our brilliant local team for pulling it all together. Plenty of stories from the by-election trail and plenty more campaigns to come!

It's time to get phones out of the classroom. Our new film looks at the harm a smartphone-based childhood is doing to our kids.

NEW: Kemi Badenoch says the Tories will lend support to the welfare bill if PM commits to three conditions: bringing down welfare budget, getting people back to work, and promising no new tax rises. The last of those is impossible for the government to deliver.

Why is the government so expensive? The answer isn't what you think. It's demographics. If you applied today's spending to the demographics of 20 years ago you could cut income tax by 13p in the pound. The ageing society + shrinking workforce = expensive.

In fairness, other PMs may have had more opportunities to vote - so it might be helpful to see the %age of times they voted. šŸ—³
