Target spot (Corynespora cassiicola) Crop Protection Network can cause significant defoliation on susceptible soybean varieties. The fungus causes reddish-brown lesions, often with a concentric ring pattern and a yellow halo. The disease can also effect cotton and tomatoes #Soybean #Fungi

I was one of the probationary employees from USDA ARS that got let go on Friday. If you or someone you know is hiring for a position that aligns with my background (molecular bio, microbiol, plant path, virology, RNAi), I would greatly appreciate any referrals or recommendations.

Fusiform rust caused by the fungus Cronartium quercuum is a disease of pines (loblolly & slash). It forms spindle-shaped galls on branches/trunks that can cause branch deformities, poor tree vigor & kill young trees. Bright orange powdery spores appear in spring #Rust #Fungi

Septoria brown spot is one of our most common foliar diseases. However, rarely does it become a “problem”, but when it does…..it’ll blow out the top of the canopy. In 18 years, only the fifth time I’ve seen it this bad and the field received a fungicide (QoI + DMI) #mscrops
