A fascinating talk by Ormond MacDougald about so many aspects of adipose tissue: #BoneMarrowAdipocyte effects on bone & immune function, cool adaptation & lipid metabolism, #lipodystrophy and more! We’re delighted to have him as part of our metabolic research community this year.

A dilemma: on 6th Sept. we sent a manuscript to an Elsevier journal. Ever since, it's shown as 'With Editor' in their submission system. Surely it can't take 3 months to send for peer review?! 😱😖 What's the longest you've had to wait for a paper to be sent for review?

The 46th Adipose Tissue Discussion Group meeting has begun! Delegates have come from around the world, and we welcomed everyone last night with a great dinner at the The Scotch Whisky Experience. We look forward to more interesting interactions & discussions over the next two days! #ATDG46

Our paper on #SexDifferenes in #CaloricRestriction is finally published today in eLife - the journal. I couldn't be happier! The effects of caloric restriction on adipose tissue and metabolic health are sex- and age-dependent doi.org/10.7554/eLife.… Key findings (mice & humans) include... 1/7

New paper out now in Euro J Endocrinology (doi.org/10.1093/ejendo…) demonstrating proof of concept that corticosterone may be a safer glucocorticoid replacement strategy for the treatment of congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

Adipose tissue generates heat even in the absence of UCP1. How does it work? Our new work identifies a molecular “resistor” of Ca2+ cycling that makes heat and controls energy metabolism through a UCP1-independent mechanism. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Beautiful new paper from Shingo Kajimura Lab, with contributions from our very own Prof Roland Stimson and María Paula Huertas Caycedo! This study reveals mechanisms underlying UCP1-independent thermogenesis, with implications for systemic metabolic health. Congrats to all involved!
