Congratulations to our Latin teams on their competition this weekend. Our advanced team (Joshua Kohm, Edward Nako, and Micah Peters) won 1st place and our novice team (Eliza Hunt, Anna Lammers, and Campbell Tate) won 2nd place. There were 20 schools in attendance.

Celebrated annually on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day is know for parades, shamrocks, and all things Irish. St. Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a religious and cultural holiday held on the traditional date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

Palm Sunday is the Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

This week we recognize those in our community observing Good Friday. This year's Good Friday artwork was created by Chantilly High School student Summer S. On this day, Christians observe the commemoration of the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for those who believe. #OurFCPS

A joyful Easter to all in our community who celebrate! The springtime celebration of Easter is the most important Christian holiday. It commemorates the resurrection of Jesus, who sacrificed so that Christians may have life with God after death.

Muslim American Heritage Month is a time for celebrating the history, contributions, culture, and an enhanced understanding of the diverse population of Muslim Americans. #OurFCPS

April is Autism Acceptance Month. One in 44 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States, according to the CDC. Our schools and staff play a vital role in creating and ensuring inclusive environments that accommodate and affirm autistic students.

Eid Mubarak to those in our Muslim community celebrating! Eid al-Fitr is a 3 day festival to mark the end of Ramadan. Muslims dress in new clothes, give charity, and pray in congregation. Eid is celebrated with the exchange of presents and delicious food with family and friends.

Edison and Twain Pyramid Band concert this evening was wonderful! This event was a pyramid solo and ensemble concert where students came together to perform selections of their own choosing for their peers and parents. Mr. Mitchell, Edison Band Director, performed too.

Thank you to our school board members, Mr. Moon and Mr. McElveen, for attending our 10th grade Global STEM Challenges Program (GSCP) presentations today. Students presented Ocean Acidification Call-to-Action campaigns and we learned about our own carbon footprint.

Mrs. Burke enjoyed seeing our students at last night’s JROTC Military Ball. She said the event was a beautiful celebration, and it was truly inspiring to witness our students in their formal attire, showcasing the discipline and camaraderie that the JROTC program fosters.
