A wonderful afternoon and evening with Policy Evaluation & Research Unit discussing all things criminology and of course the international crime and justice film festival 2024. The Accused, made in the 80s, shows we sadly haven’t come that far on our attitudes to female victims of rape.

The "guilty men" in the last Government left our prisons in crisis, moments from disaster. Today, I made a statement to the House of Commons on this Government's emergency measures to address this crisis. This Government will always put the country & its safety first.

What a day! A privilege, if a little surreal, to give my maiden speech in the House of Lords yesterday, with my family watching on. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way.

Something must change! At The Goldsmiths' Foundation we’ve partnered with charities working in the women’s estate for years. Women’s centres, properly funded and supported are the way ahead in most cases. Thank you Women in Prison, National Women's Justice Coalition, One Small Thing, @Anawim_BCW and others for your hard work

We at One Small Thing condemn the violence and racism we are seeing up and down our country. We must stand together against racism and hatred.
