As I'm sitting in the Donders Institute Open Science session, eLife - the journal abolishes accept/reject. Very exciting decision, looking forward to seeing its consequences unfold. Highly recommend reading the editorial by Michael Eisen: doi.org/10.7554/eLife.…

The response to the eLife - the journal announcement has me thinking about why people are so scared about the end of journals. I'm wondering if it's because it's one of the few consequential endorsements we get in our careers? 🧵

I have extremely fond memories of my time in Mark Stokes's lab. Alumni got together and wrote about the example set by Mark. Thanks to Dr Alex Pike and MaryAnn Noonan for the initiative, and to postlelab for setting up the JoCN Special Focus of which this is part. (PDF in thread)

Interested in doing a PhD at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience, and machine learning? Check out this exciting opportunity in my new lab Uni of Birmingham, jointly supervised with Brain Squirrel, examining how the brain uses prior knowledge to guide new learning.

The world has lost a beautiful soul. Thank you and goodbye Mark Mark Stokes

Scientists spend too much time taking “professional selfies”. A paper from PNAS describes what it takes to be a scientist today. Key points (that I always emphasize myself): #AcademicTwitter Academic Chatter™ #research
