As only my dear Mother would do things, delighting us all the time, after a very weak day yesterday, had a few more spoons of thickened water today as I call it, and when my dear cousin and I were talking loud and clear we suddenly hear “you are talking too much”.

This is a road I have not traveled before. Since Saturday, dear Mum is a little more alert and taking a slight increased amount of thickened water. Yesterday she placed her hand on my arm, and when I was saying goodbye, raised my hand to her mouth to kiss. Precious moments.

A beautiful card from a much loved, past pupil of Mum’s says it all. She’s very vey tired today but had good intake this morning. 🙏🙏

My dear Mum is slipping now. She been surrounded by so much love and support the past few weeks, precious times for a very special person. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

She is all tucked up for the night, George her little Steiff doggy we got her in London is keeping a close eye. Morphine pump went on today and she is getting the most expert and compassionate care in Kiltipper. Trying to pace ourselves is hard, but being in the moment is best.

She had a comfortable night. No major change. We are embracing the new day.

The wee doggie has a different job tonight. It feels really odd not to be in the comfort filled surrounds of Kiktipper tonight, to no longer be wondering, to no longer stroke her hand, to no longer admire her serene beauty and the incredible life and love she lived. Grateful 🙏

I remember writing the Tweet below. We weren’t sure if it was her last night, but it turned out it was. That’s about 20 nights ago. It feels longer. Tonight the wee dog is with me minding all the beautiful cards, letters and Mass bouquets we received. She was a treasure. 🌻

That excellent RTÉ #RTEInvestigates programme is absolutely shocking, so many thoughts - the key one being the profit motive. If owners were happy to have lower margins, would the reality be very different?The lack of supplies in those facilities is utterly shocking. Abuse

AND a massive shout out to all the brilliant Carers and the excellent Nursing Homes out there like Kiltipper who so EXPERTLY cared for my Mum for over four years - it was home with expert care. Heartbreaking for residents and families in those homes tonight.
