End Violence & Racism Against ESEA Communities 🧡 (@evr_esea) 's Twitter Profile Photo

🙏Trigger warning : trafficking, violence, death 🙏 Extremely sad research findings below: what happens when survivors of trafficking return to the Philippines. Specialist support exists for Filipinos and other ESEA people in the UK, such as via On Your Side and Kanlungan Filipino Consortium

This is urgent - Filipino nationals in the UK's #NRM for #HumanTrafficking have MORE THAN DOUBLED in the last 5 years. The govt needs to offer a safe, supported place for survivors of trafficking to rebuild their lives sustainably in the UK. #SurvivorFutures

The value of the #SurvivorFutures report by Ella Parry-Davies is mainly offline and The Voice of Domestic Workers is that it shows the reality of survivor's experiences, going behind what is on paper for Home Office decision makers. @Kingscoll rb.gy/p2k2o

The immigration health surcharge is punitive and racist. It makes judgements on who can reproduce and who cannot. It is a flat tax with the wealthiest paying the same as the poorest - undermining everything the NHS stands for. Using this to pay public worker salaries is abhorrent

Looking forward to the full report, where I hope we'll hear about the structural conditions - like the UK's #kafala-style 'tied visa' - which force #MigrantDomesticWorkers into situations of exploitation and abuse. #DomesticWorkIsWork, and MDWs need full workers rights in the UK

Outside #DowningSt today: hundreds prayed on the wet road at a vigil for those murdered in #Palestine and speakers called out UK media and politicians for their complicity in genocide

Delighted that this collaboration with The Voice of Domestic Workers was shortlisted for a King's Engaged Researcher Network award for #ParticipatoryResearch ✨ I learned over 50 survivors of trafficking have already used this piece of evidence rb.gy/p2k2o Congratulations & thanks to all involved! 💪
