9 million tulips, a 16 ton moving Train, Munchkinland, Emerald City, Shiz University with a lake entrance, a working giant Wizard head… we had to build these things for real. That’s beside incredible costumes, hair, make up, stunts and of course singing and choreography. Add on

reading a series of unfortunate events as a little girl made me think i’d encounter a lot more anagrams than i have….nobody wants to rearrange words to conceal true names, sinister messages, and secret locations these days 🙄🙄🙄

Delighted to see Aston in 29th place in The Guardian 2025 subject rankings for English. This places us in the top 1/3 of universities offering English degrees and reflects all the wonderful work my colleagues English at Aston University do to support our students. theguardian.com/education/ng-i…

Our hearts are broken beyond description to learn about the passing of Gavin Creel, an unparalleled artist, activist, and songwriter with one of the biggest hearts on Broadway. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and the entire Broadway community. What a devastating loss.

When they say “lighting up the boards”, Gavin Creel is what they mean. A heartbreaking loss for the Broadway community, as performer and person. A genuinely bright light to go out. But how lucky we were. A true Broadway baby, saying goodbye way too soon. It’s been grand, Gavin.

It’s so important that we recognise that ALL engagement is good. It’s damaging to tell a child that what they enjoy isn’t ‘proper’ reading. Let them read graphic novels and comics, let people listen to audiobooks without nitpicking about definitions and whether they ‘read’ a book

Finding the right book, for the right reader can be the key that unlocks a love for reading and literacy skills for life. We believe that *all* reading is valid. Comic books and graphic novels can be especially powerful for reluctant readers. #GrowAGenerationOfReaders
