Today I voted to remove women from the 1861 criminal law on abortion, so that women will no longer be prosecuted for acting to end their own pregnancy. I’m proud to be part of this long-overdue victory for women’s rights and bodily autonomy.

Today I chaired a cross-party Water Pollution APPG session on the interim report of the Independent Water Commission. MPs questioned Sir Jon Cunliffe on issues including regulatory failings, the need to address both agricultural and sewage pollution, & the case for public ownership.

Agricultural pollution is the main source of pollution in the UK—so why does the govt continually omit references to it when discussing pollution? If we’re going to get serious about protecting our waterways, we need to invest in river-friendly farming, urgently.

On #WorldRefugeeDay2025 I pay tribute to organisations like Refugee Action and Freedom from Torture🧡 and the compassionate people in my constituency who provide support to those who’ve had to flee their homes in fear of their lives. Refugees need safe & legal routes, not demonisation.
