Dr. Olivia Healy kicking us off for the Econ SURF session. First up…Chloe Higgins discussing socioeconomic determinants of health.

Chloe Higgins finds that the Affordable Care Act positively impacted health outcomes in New York relative to Massachusetts, using a diff-in-diff methodology.

Sarah Mirrow presenting her research on how abortion access impacts female educational attainment in Texas. She finds clinics closing led to higher dropout rates for female students (no diff for males)

Up next, Claire Pryzbocki discussing labor market impacts of Ukrainian immigrants in Poland. She finds a small, but negative relationship between wages and immigration.

Anna Vassalo now speaking about the connection between adolescent sexual violence, depression, and labor market outcomes. She finds that people who experience ASV have higher rates of depression and lower average incomes.

Wrapping up this session with Georgia Daniel discussing wages and whiskey! She finds that binge drinking negatively affects income but that moderate drinking is *positively* related to wages.

Christina Alescio is up first discussing how student loans impact racial wealth gaps. White students are the least affected in terms of net worth.

Next we have Anthony Mangone presenting on the relationship between exchange rate volatility and gdp growth.

David Neubig talking about the relationship between food insecurity and cardiovascular disease, for which he finds a negative relationship.

Now we have Eric Sabatino discussing campaign finance reform and its environmental policy impacts.

Our last session is anchored by Chase Gurey, presenting on the relationship between defense spending and innovation.

These are all geniuses but it doesn’t take a Nobel to realize they massive import tariffs (taxes) and deporting millions of workers will drive up prices. Hell even the guys at Heritage know that! (As does everyone in my Eco 101 course)
