In case you are still wondering "why the strike?" This plot about sums it up. On the left: % population, on the right % compensation. Thanks Indiana Grad Workers Coalition for figure #IUonStrike22

There really is something so exciting about the fact that SPJ saw me talking to my friends about local agriculture and said, “Not only is this journalism, this is good journalism.” Actively hopeful about a journalistic culture that embraces transparency and relationship.

This is my favorite thing I've published in a while. The story belongs to a truly extraordinary network of earthlings in Southern Illinois (🌱Carbondale Spring🌱) and inspires a collective re-understanding of food and community 💕 open.spotify.com/episode/2iB0Ey…

Listen for so many beautiful insights into the creation and tending of community and gardens, as well as a joyful list of tomato varieties!

Today is pub day for my book, TREE THIEVES: CRIME AND SURVIVAL IN NORTH AMERICA'S WOODS. A lot of people say this, but I've been working on it through various forms for almost 10 years, and I'm really excited and also terrified to have it out there linktr.ee/treethieves

Maybe Tamar Haspel⁩ was right to give me shit Climavores for comparing farmers markets to NASCAR races. They’re both venues where like-minded white people get community vibes, but NASCAR fans don’t think they’re saving the planet. Anyway, tune in! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cli…

Can't believe we've released 150 episodes over the past three years! Here's to James Shanahan, Janet McCabe, Dr. Gabriel Filippelli, IU Media School, and IU Environmental Resilience Institute for making this happen — and to everyone who's helped us learn how to better relate with all the earth's beings :)

just some images of things that are very real: cool running water, the first ripe tomato of the season, a luscious veggie-growin field, and the love of a dog

When @johnfavini reached out about a year ago and suggested we work with AAP folks on a story, I imagined something meditative and engaging. But what @_LSaunders_ and team made exceeds every possible expectation. Thoughtful, rich, researched, fully moving.

A quick clip from our most recent release, about the dedication and resistance, togetherness and collective power of folks with Appalachians Against Pipelines. Thanks to @_LSaunders_ for leading production and to everyone who contributed their perspectives and labor. open.spotify.com/episode/5wQ7oY…

The idea that we can "overshoot" 1.5 C and then reverse ecological damage later with carbon dioxide removal is not empirical science, but capitalist ideology, which claims, falsely, that any negative externality of growth is temporary and can be overcome by innovation.

Dr. Genevieve Guenther (she/they) (@doctorvive) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Or maybe the claim that externalities can be overcome by innovation is true, but the reality is that a functioning planetary ecosystem is not an "externality," but the very pre-requisite of scientific and economic activity.

I get a decent volume of PR pitches for In This Climate Podcast, and probably always but at least recently, I've noticed the majority come from people who are corporate CEOs or have written books celebrating flavors of green capitalism. I would prefer other pitches.

Looks like someone hacked my account and tweeted about NFTs! Twitter suspended the account, so everything's cool. Except I'm now moved to *new year new me* get into cryptocurrency and vapes. I might transform into a self-driving car. Get hacked, get inspired, you know!

So excited about Redbud Books and what this space will mean for our community! Deeply grateful to those who are dedicating their energy to make it possible (and who took precious time to help make this story).
