🧵Next week, you will see people using something called Benford's Law to try to prove election fraud. ⛔️These people are wrong⛔️ I am a scientist who has published on Benford's Law. Let me tell you what it is and why what they are doing is mathematically incorrect. 1/

Hey polars data - I was going to flutter (?) about how much I like you over on 🦋sky where the data folks are gaining some real momentum. Would be more fun if you were on there too!

If you vote today thank the election workers. Often your interaction will be with a volunteer at a polling place who may be paid a pittance. Their service means we can have a democracy

Hey Quarto - wrote a short new blog post about using Netlify to gate content on some projects I built with you. Would love if you were on 🦋sky so I could tag you as I share it there..

Seeing the huge momentum on the Blue site is exciting. Many of you have started following me there. I’m gratified for that. If you haven’t prepared to make the switch yet, please consider doing so. You’ll find a much friendlier, cleaner, unobtrusive environment over there.

Microsoft just released a tool that lets you convert Office files to Markdown. Never thought I'd see the day. Google also added Markdown export to Google Docs a few months ago.

I am thinking of making my DiD materials that I used for teaching in the last 5 years available. I am hoping these would find begineers in need of a step-by-step opinionated walkthrough of several developments Let’s see if I find the energy to do this! #EconTwitter

Rohit Chopra spent every day at CFPB making sure we could have a strong financial system that was also safe for consumers. He cracked down on junk fees and false medical debt reports, protected personal financial data, and investigated dangerous de-banking practices.

Supervision is CFPB’s first line of defense against scammers, predatory banks, and tech companies stealing your financial data. The Trump Administration is giving the green light to fraudsters.

NEW from me: Russ Vought was on the verge of breaking the mortgage market by shutting down a core function provided by CFPB. But he blinked, and in so doing revealed that regulation is actually pretty important. (link below)

Just got off flight. Thanks to NHTSA for safe roads to airport, TSA and FAA for safe passage, NTSB for past crash investigations and current protocols, NOAA/NWS for forecasts that made route planning possible, etc etc #ThankYouCivilService

You know how some of your clocks will just *know* how to adjust to the #DST time change overnight (and not just our phones talking to cell towers)? They get that from govt radio. Thank you, National Institute of Standards and Technology, for maintaining the time! nist.gov/pml/time-and-f… #ThankYouCivilService

You know what would make the market chaos materially worse? Bank runs! Thanks to the OCC regulating bank reserves and FDIC insuring accounts, we aren’t rushing to the nearest branch and creating an even worse credit crunch #ThankYouCivilService
