Organized by 🇸🇮🇬🇾, with 🇵🇱🇬🇧 co-sponsoring, the United Nations Security Council held an #Arria-formula mtg - only the 2nd time in history - to address the situation of persons w/ #disabilities in conflict. 🇵🇱 thanks the co-organizers, briefers & 40+ delegations for their strong engagement.


It's been 5 years since the UNSC last discussed the situation of persons w. #disabilities in armed conflicts. Thanks to truly remarkable efforts by Iwona Lula, the the UNSC finally paid attention once again. The UNSC should add those most at risk to its formal agenda.

At the UNSC meeting yesterday, Human Rights Watch shared findings on the unique harms experienced by children w. #disabilities caught up in armed conflicts, drawing up on our decade-long research on this topic, with a particular focus on Gaza and Syria.
