According to the Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue, sheep maintain "high-quality habitats and species-rich biodiversity" in our uplands. Say, what??? It's actually the very opposite. Here's the reality: ecological deadzones.

Even if most of the University Presidents, the IUA, THEA, Royal Irish Academy, the HEA etc have nothing to say about the destruction of all universities in GAZA and continuing academic/research ties with Israel, individual academics can suspend support for Israeli universities..

Police officer: I've been a police officer for over ten years and sometimes when I respond to a domestic call I say to the mother (who is the victim) 'how can you let your children go through this?' Me: How many times in 10 years have a you said to the perpetrating father

Underneath the bracken, a rich woodland flora still persists, hanging on since the trees were cleared, centuries ago. Now, with grazers gone, the trees are returning, and a highly diverse, rainforest ecosystem reforming. Why is this not happening across Ireland? 🌎

After my book came out, I was asked to give the keynote address at a university conference on sustainability in Cairo. I would have loved to go, but couldn't square flying there and back with the theme. My offer to do it via videolink was refused. Some bloody 'sustainability'!

Excellent piece by John Gibbons πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ. My jaw dropped to learn that over 60% of new car sales in Ireland are SUVs. That is indicative of a society in *total*, shameful denial of the collapsing climate. As John rightly says, these monster vehicles should be taxed out of existence.

"The goats will also enhance the biodiversity of Killiney Hill" How on earth can an invasive, non-native species that strips out all native vegetation possibly 'enhance' biodiversity??? The solution to fires is to allow natural non-flammable habitats return. Goats prevent that.

Remember: Ireland was ranked **13th from the bottom** in biodiversity intactness out of 240 global nations and states. With this approach, that won't be changing ANY time soon.

Used to love the desolate landscape of the west of ireland before following this guy, ignorance is bliss I suppose. Imagine how beautiful Ireland could be if we allowed even a small amount of space for nature to flourish

Over the last 5 years, Killarney NP culled: ● 501 reds: Ireland's ONLY herd of rare native deer ● 461 sika: a non-native, invasive, + highly abundant species ● 0 goats: a non-native, invasive, + highly abundant species Like, just *what* is the thinking? Is there any??

Climate change is putting people out of business, threatening our food and local places and even killing people, and it's just the start. Yet we have politicians competing with one another on how little they plan to do to tackle it.

It's been pretty nice for a few weeks, mostly dry. We're hours away from the first heavy rainfall in a while and right on cue, these guys are spreading in fields this morning. Soon to find its way into a river or stream near you. It can't be coincidence; it shouldn't be allowed.

If you only read one article about our predicament, let it be this one. By 2050, it's estimated 95% of the world's soils will be degraded. β€œIt’s going to be like Mad Max" The climate crisis is a food crisis. And it's coming for all of us. Prepare. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Surprise, Surprise- the 'economic report' commissioned by the private car park owners looks like it was based on biased analysis. Who could have seen that coming?! Implement the Dublin Bay Transport Plan as democratically planned Dublin City Council 🚲

Great to see NPWS being given the tools to take on the scourge of Rhododendron in Killarney NP. Can't wait to see the recovery of these Oak woodlands over the coming decades. rte.ie/news/munster/2…
