Keeping coal fire power stations open will contribute to increasing temperatures. Even the energy ratings of our newly built homes in Australia are based on climate data from a decade ago. This LNP decision will see more people dying in their homes. queenslandconservation.org.au/callide_b_powe…

Victoria making a serious play for GOAT on better rental laws: banning no grounds evictions, requiring evidence for bond claims, and ending BS fees to pay rent. These are important changes that will make it easier for renters to decent homes. buff.ly/4hrogHq

The answer to this one is: more than half! The median rent increase is 11%, & nearly 1 in 6 proposed increases is >25%! Landlords are incentivised to propose huge increases: even when a tenant has the time & energy to argue it down, it ends up being higher than the median anyway.

Great article on lifelong renters in The Conversation last week! "Forever renting" only sounds like a curse because of our current rental system: if renting weren't treated as an unavoidably unpleasant step on the road to homeownership, a hazing process for young adults (1/3)
