Throwback to our SKTM WG, teaching Assistants looked at additive reasoning, exploring vocabulary used in addition and subtraction, the different structures of addition and subtraction and linking practical resources to abstract written methods. #makingmathsmatter #mathscpd

This year for our Sustatining TRG we have focussed on developing problem solving in the participant’s schools. They are now working collaboratively to put together some CPD in their schools sharing what has been covered today and how to implement it in their own settings

In our developing workgroup, we focused on conceptual variation and the importance of drawing attention to the essential features of a concept. Participants spent time exploring examples and non-examples of a concept they were about to teach and writing a definition/general rule.

An insight into our Sustaining group who delved into the progression of representations and their role in securing deep understanding in problem-solving. It was inspiring to see how foundational concepts are secured through carefully selected representations. #makingmathsmatter
