EJA Fellow Haleigh reflects that immigrants are "not just a collection of IDs and checked boxes. They’re not problems to be solved or passive recipients of help. They’re people. They make small talk, get new jobs, stay in touch with friends, and put their kids to bed."

Katie wrapped up her EJA Summer Fellowship: "At the ACLU, I worked alongside passionate legal professionals dedicated to advancing gender justice. We tackled challenging issues, including pregnancy discrimination, to ensure fair treatment and equality in the workplace."

EJA fellowships empower advocates and fellows, like Carolyn, to gain invaluable real-life experiences representing low-income tenants. Carolyn negotiated w/ landlords & attorneys in court, ensuring vital protections for clients.

EJA Summer Fellow, Sean, testimony: "I helped many clients receive food benefits, medical coverage and cash assistance. I have never felt more prepared and energized to engage in public interest legal aid, and to help people seek more stable and comfortable lives."

EJA Fellow Niko shared: “This summer I got to see firsthand how impactful it is to get records expunged and/or sealed. There is such a frustrating and often unclear barrier to getting employment and housing in this country if you have a record."

This summer, EJA Fellow Shara helped small businesses recover from predatory contractors & explored support for organizations facing challenges after the Supreme Court's affirmative action decision. Her work emphasizes the urgent need for equity in legal and educational spheres.

As Ashleigh Pelto concludes EJA Human Trafficking Fellowship, we celebrate her incredible dedication to criminalized survivors. Through her work in record clearing petitions, advocacy for systemic change, and education, Ashleigh has truly made a difference. Thank you, Ashleigh!
