So a fun part of talks / grant review is that I put the honorarium into telescope gear. After my last talk I got a new filter that lets in very narrow bandwidth from hydrogen and oxygen emissions. So these are thanks to @absmiraglia at Roswell Park… Horsehead and Pacman Nebula.

So the university can nickel and dime you… like charging for parking. So when internet goes down and I have to use my phone as a hotspot to do online interviews… how do I charge the university for that? It is that or not do the interviews… which would make them unhappy.

For years I’ve wanted to try to image the helix nebula (Eye of God). With the new AM5 mount and narrowband filter it was finally viable… but not visible between the trees in our backyard. Set up at the edge of a recently harvested cornfield to get this. #Astrophotography

Got the official e-mail that the American Cancer Society American Cancer Society is funding our grant. Can't wait to get started on a deeper look at organ specific drivers of metastasis. Lab needs ice cream again!

Commute takes longer these days when I have to stop and look around a little more!

In study section and keep seeing applicants put so much data in that the font size in figures approaches a 1 or 2 point font... even with reading glasses and 400X magnification I can't make out the figure. Reviewers complaining. Sometimes less is more!
