Next week PURA will participate in the Greek dialectology conference at Oxford with two papers: Federico Favi will talk about the “dialect of Alexandria” as a sociolinguistic category, while Olga Tribulato will give the keynote lecture "Sounding Attic in Imperial inscriptions".

PURA is at the Faculty of Classics, University of Oxford, for the ancient Greek dialects international conference

Thank you Andreas Willi and Philomen Probert for last week's very stimulating conference on the ancient Greek dialects with scholars from all over Europe (pictured: participants outside the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford).

On 12-13 October, join us (in person or on Zoom: see programme) for the workshop "Investigating ancient multilingualism in an epigraphic corpus: the case of Roman West: Methodology, perspectives and digital tools", organised by Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Unive Ca' Foscari fellow Livia Tagliapietra.

We're grateful to the Foundation Hardt Geneva for the opportunity of undisturbed work on putting the final touches to vol. 1 of PURA monograph, The Roots of Atticism (by O. Tribulato, F. Favi, L. Prauscello, G. Ucciardello), in a wonderful library and garden!

On Friday 28 June PURA published 36 new lexicographic entries on DEA, addressing phonological, morphological and syntactic issues of Attic Greek (e.g. aspirated perfects, athematic verbs and the government of verba sequendi) as seen through the eyes of Atticist lexicographers.

We're happy to announce the launching of two new sections of DEA (atticism.eu), devoted respectively to Manuscripts & Editions of the five Atticist lexica and to Scholars & Works. Now with a full mapping of the tradition of Pollux's Onomasticon & 9 entries on lexica.
