Ezra Klein endorses Brad Lander, but with a far more generous take on Zohran than you get from other Times commentators: "I’ve found Mamdani to be a smart and subtle thinker — able to absorb new information quickly and balance ideas against each other..." nytimes.com/2025/06/18/opi…

“although Dems developed grander ambitions for social spending over the past decade, they simultaneously grew more averse to raising taxes on anyone but the super-rich…Dems like social welfare programs. But they like low taxes on the upper middle class even more.” Eric Levitz

"But expanding America’s safety net remains a moral imperative. In the long-term, Democrats must therefore strive to build the electoral power and political will necessary for raising taxes on the middle-class (or at least, on its upper reaches)." vox.com/politics/41710…

I’m not sure there’s rage at Zohran’s big policy ideas like free buses and public grocery stores so much as befuddlement. Ample research shows free fares don’t get drivers to take transit, while no food systems experts think high food prices are a result of retail price gouging.

internet serfer As a policy analyst for the City Council I held a hearing about this very topic and the issue is a lack of wholesale cold storage within nyc which due to its unique geography is difficult to supply by truck. We could also loosen zoning to allow bigger stores w/o parking.

This was an illegal act of aggression. Iran is not at war with the US. And it was not even in violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, whatever one believes about its future intentions. (The U.S. would not have the authority to bomb Iran even if it had violated the NPT)

As of last week, 60% of Americans felt the US should not get involved in the war between Iran and Israel, while 16% thought it should.

Almost every day Palestinian civilians trying to get access to food are just massacred by trigger happy Israeli soldiers whose weapons are handed to them by American taxpayers. How does this benefit America, and do our leaders fear judgement? reuters.com/world/middle-e…

Ben Furnas The moment Indian Point, engineers knew we'd need fossil fuels to fill the gap—and that 2025 will have real blackout risk Only reason we may avoid a blackout now is NYISO prevented the shutdown of the dirtiest peaker plants in 2023 We are, disturbingly, "right on schedule" 🤡

🚨 Gov. Hochul is ordering New York Power Authority to start planning 1 GW of new nuclear power, bypassing years of process for designing new "clean energy certificates" and competitive auctions to beg private developers. Hochul embracing Stafford-Huber thought, and Abundance.

A sclerotic and corrupt dictatorship teetering on the edge of collapse, and a rising potential hegemon poised to overrun the region and destroy the state of Israel.
