platinumpizza™ There is no good reason for the MVR to remain open to new registrants. These courses are unaccredited and unregulated, with the GMC admitting that they will take a reputational hit by waving through those that don't meet their standards Please stand up for patients My banner👇

Dr Huw I find it incredible that the medical profession has not got to grips with safe and sustainable provision of acute care 24/7. We still accept call rooms disappearing, lack of rest spaces, and work on the assumption that we’re superhuman.

The Royal College of Physicians has said it is “disappointing” that new General Medical Council guidance does not state that physician associates must be supervised by a senior doctor bmj.com/content/389/bm…

A really important point on opportunity cost of having a PA instead of a doctor. The PA project makes no sense every which way you look at it, unless your objective was to deregulate Medicine and “break unions” with cheap labour, irrespective of impact on patient safety.

If the DDRB recommends 3% then it does so knowing that - A) it is demonstrating that despite reforms it is still not independent B) this will force doctors into industrial action All public sector unions should be united in building towards balloting a below inflation pay award

This tweet reeks of preemptive abdication and self-absolution from the DDRB. Let the dog see the rabbit then; publish the report.

If you think this is out of control, if you think physicians associates should be doctors assistants, if you think this experiment is risky for patients and should stop, you need to face you may need to take part, in due course in some sort of organised action to stop it.

Eileen Joyce again. Strong evidence that clozapine is effective in treatment of psychosis in Parkinson’s and doesn’t worsen motor or cognitive functioning.

The DDRB report is with Wes Streeting — we're meeting him Friday to discuss resident doctors' pay in England. He's committed to honouring the non-pay parts of last year's deal, regardless of this year's outcome. Doctors need a credible path to #PayRestoration

Harry (@waterman_harry) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Streeting previously referred to full pay restoration as a journey Resident doctors won’t be accepting of any detours from this path - full pay restoration is entirely reasonable Let’s hope this meeting is a positive one - in the mean time members must remain ready to ballot

Despite the first step towards reversing our pay erosion last year, doctors’ pay is still down by 22%. There needs to be clear progress towards full pay restoration.

Dr Ross Nieuwoudt (@rossnieuwoudt) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Doctors are not worth less than they were in 2008. Your work is not 22% easier Your patients are not 22% simpler Your pay should not be 22% lower. It is only right that doctors pay is fully restored.

Erin Gourley (@eringourley1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The government must honour their word. If full pay restoration is a “process, not an event” - time to show they are serious about continuing the process ⏰

The GMC are increasing doctors’ compulsory annual fees this year from £455 to £463. On a side note, the GMC are spending almost ONE MILLION pounds a year on private medical care for its staff WHY are they using OUR fees to fund their own private medical care?!
