My one question in regards to #OUA and #OUAisELITE conversation As a governing body, did we simply not do our work and due diligence to take the necessary steps to be on the “elite amateur” status list? If so, I apologize to every athletes across all sports! We failed you!!

1/2 - Sports and being an OUA student-athlete means everything to our kid and so many other devoted athletes. They have been locked out of training by the Ontario government because they were not deemed elite on a government list.

2/4- The frustration is nobody including the Minister of Sport can explain how the elite list was created. There was no clear process. These kids are caught in Ford political red tape and their physical and mental well-being are so fragile.

3/4 -They aren’t asking to play, they’re asking to train so that when they can get back on the court they will be ready. Calls to our government don’t get returned. We are being ignored. The government better wake up and realize OUA athletes and families will be voting in June!

So, I called the Premier’s office, to find out why oua:) and Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Athletes were not given Elite status, and that the Mister of Sport could not give a reason why. So they put me through to the cabinet office, explained again, and was told I will hear back from them. Waiting!

Big shout to all the U SPORTS/U SPORTS Basketball athletes playing in the conference tournaments. I don't think there ever is enough made of this time of the hoops season up here. #CanBall
