Colchester Town Hall, Crime and Disorder Committee Meeting, I joined the Mayor of Colchester to recognise the remarkable contribution to crime prevention made by local resident Grahame Stehle and presented him with a High Sheriff certificate.

School Mock Trials, Basildon Crown Court. Six schools took part in a legal challenge, they all rose to the task, learning about the legal process. Thanks to all who organised and gave their time to make it possible. The Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff spectated and approved.

Remus Horse Sanctuary, Ingatestone. Founder Sue Burton BEM showed us round and we learnt of the awful histories of the animals now in her safe care. We met staff and volunteers. I presented youthful Esme (86) and Alex with High Sheriff Certificates for service to the community.

Opening of Just Ride bike workshop at Garon’s Park Athletic Track by Alan Tideswell brother of the late David Tideswell to whom the workshop is dedicated. Family, friends, Trustees, Volunteers, Mayor of Southend and High Sheriff of Essex applauded with pride.

Royal Gunpowder Mills, Waltham Abbey. Attended opening of Mill on the Mead and presented Dr Geoff Hooper with a well-deserved High Sheriffs Award for valuable services to the community. Having run the site when in use his support as a volunteer has been invaluable.

I attended the Presentation of The King's Award by Jackie Allan DL, assisted by Tim Stokes DL last night Saxon Hall, Southend. There is an atmosphere of Freedom and joy around Music Man Project . It makes people smile.

I joined the Essex Magistrates Bench meeting in Chelmsford last evening and presented the Courts unsung Heroes with High Sheriffs Awards. Ushers, Security, Legal Teams all work to ensure courts run as best they can. I also thanked the Magistrates for their remarkable contribution

My last post as High Sheriff of Essex. Tomorrow at County Hall I hand over the Staff of Office to Julie Fosh DL who will be the 845th High Sheriff. I wish her every success. Its an extraordinary role allowing unique insight. It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve.
