Me: Legacy is "repugant & unethical" Brown: “legacy raises complicated questions about access, merit & unearned advantage, while also raising questions about benefits like lifelong affinity, philanthropic support for Brown & community.” Translation: $ browndailyherald.com/article/2024/0…

Last week, Cornell's student assembly unanimously passed a resolution condemning the use of legacy in the college's admissions process. I was proud to join student assembly pres. (& Class Action partner) Patrick Kuehl in sponsoring the resolution. cornellsun.com/2024/03/25/stu…

We're both thrilled and humbled to announce our partnership with The Kresge Foundation. We'll use this $50,000 foundational grant to make elite colleges live up to their promise of advancing the common good. Thank you, Kresge Foundation!

Class Action student organizers showed up to Sacramento in numbers to support AB 1780. Thank you Asm Phil Ting for giving us the opportunity!

Yesterday Rhode Island became the ninth state to introduce a bill to ban legacy at all colleges in their state. (CO, VA, and MD have already passed complete or partial bans.) I was pleased to join RI State Rep. David Morales 🌹 and James S Murphy in supporting the bill.

Today California became the second state to ban the use of legacy preference in private college admissions. Class Action is pleased to have played an important role in organizing student support for Assemblyman Phil Ting's bill and advancing it to Gov. Newsom's desk.
