Inspired by My Magic Family, we marked #WorldBookDay2024 by celebrating everyday superheroes and what makes our own families special.

A big thank you to @TheJanePorter who has been working with us this week. We loved making our character passports and creating our story maps.

Pupils loved listening to I am Nefertiti read by Annemarie Anang ‘DANCE JUST LIKE SO!’ out now! as part of our Festival of Books. She shared her wonderful debut book and played brilliant music with the children.

Pupils loved our final author visit of our Festival of Books celebrations; from Rachael Mortimer, who read her fractured fairy tales complete with puppets and also her new book Song for a Princess. Pupils created treasure boxes for their own special words and memories.

Pupils loved working with artists from Nat. Maritime Museum to make their own sailor love boxes. They learned about their history from a story about a sea monster Maelstrom, before making their own gorgeous boxes.

We had a brilliant visit from two learning officers from Migration Museum in which pupils learned about how important migration has been and still is for the NHS. Thank you Tia and Cym!

A big thank you to Suzette from the chaplaincy team who came in to the classroom this morning. We loved learning about the parable of the Good Shepherd and the sheep and then making our own models!

Pupils and staff were inspired by Beth Moulam’s visit to our school. She spoke about the power of dreams, her journey to the Paralympics and her experiences as an AAC user. We had great fun playing Boccia games which Beth refereed. Thank you Beth Moulam for such a memorable day!

This week, I was invited to the Evelina Hospital School to join their end of year celebration. It was wonderful to meet colleagues there, see some of the fantastic work undertaken by the children and even give some of the creative activities a go myself 📕✏️ Evelina Hospital School

We were excited to meet Sophie Carrigill - Great Britain Women's Wheelchair Basketball athlete - who visited us to talk about her life and achievements. What an inspiration and role model to our young people. We wish her every success at the Paralympics! youtu.be/kRb_EtqREBk
