BijanOmrani @weelkesninthse1 Reading preces and responses, fall just outside the top 10 P&Rs, having been broadcast 18 times. They peaked in 2009 when they actually beat Rose being used on 7 occasions (6 for Rose).

Alastair Brookshaw World Cup of Evensong Howells responses have been broadcast, but only three times according to the stats. That puts him level with Tallis and Vann responses. In total, I've recorded 106 different sets.

World Cup of Evensong Congrats to Lichfield Choir who get the award for most psalm chants in a single broadcast. 👏👏 Psalm 78 in June 2016. 9 chants in total - Oakeley, Parratt, Goss, Lamb, Parry, Monk, Bairstow, Cooke, Mann

ChoralEvensongStats World Cup of Evensong Now you mention it, coming in sub-15 minutes, it feels rude not share Psalm 78 with its 9 chants on such a lovely evening! cathedralchoir.org.uk/media/20160615…

World Cup of Evensong So onto choirs, a hot but complex topic. Congrats to King's College Choir who take the lead of those with a dozen or more CE broadcasts. There are some important caveats to this table though (detail given in the thread below)

World Cup of Evensong King's College Choir Now we have data on each choir, we can start doing comparisons such as the average number of psalm chants used by different choirs per broadcast. Congrats to York Minster Choir who are liberal with their use of chants 👏🥳👏

World Cup of Evensong There has been a perception over the last year or so that the number of archive recordings being used has increased (meaning less live broadcasts). This is categorically true with 2018 and 2019 reaching record highs. What's going on BBC Radio 3 ?!

World Cup of Evensong The range of introits used is very diverse. Approx. 450 introits, only 82 of which are used more than once. However, those that have a score of 5 of more broadcasts are absolute classics. I'm sure Charles Wood Festival are pleased to see their namesake in the top flight of introits!

World Cup of Evensong What a final! And I can now reveal the most broadcast set on BBC Choral Evensong - and a shock result! The World Cup winner down in 10th place, Coll Reg holding strong in 2nd, Stanford mid-table, and 3 top 25 sets not even in the world cup (#12 Wood in F is fab)

World Cup of Evensong If we group all Canticles by composer we can see Howells and Stanford have a clear lead of the others, but we also get some surprising entries - Byrd in at #5, Victoria #6, Francis Jackson at #7 and Gibbons at #8. In total there were around 180 composers of canticles recorded!

World Cup of Evensong Growing calls from the choir stalls for a stewards enquiry. Of these 16 pieces that claim to be 'top flight' anthems: - 1 not sung at all on BBC Choral Evensong since 2007 - 2 have been sung but used as an introit and not as an anthem 😮😮
