#FossilFriday DAY-13. #MADEx24 team started to close down “Shangri-La” quarry at the Eastern Gobi & be ready to move to the last basecamp of this year in a few days after loading up this big girl, which is weighing ~ more than 2,000 lb and the one of the largest hadrosauroids.

In addition to #FossilFriday (missing several weeks in last a couple of months), a big girl is ready to load onto the truck and say “Good-bye, my homeland & Hi, my new home” #MADEx24

Can’t believe this went off without a hitch. Clean separation, flip, and load of a 2,000 lb block of hadrosaur. A very good day indeed #MADEx24 #dinodig24

Last two days of our #MADEx24 expedition and I’ve found two partial skeletons of a new trodontid #raptor #dinosaur. Great way to wrap up the #gobi season. Gotta get this beaut out! #dinodig24

A psittacosaur skull hiding under our last troodontid skeleton was a nice surprise on our last day of the #MADEx24 expedition. Jacket pulled and that’s a wrap folks! #dinodig24

That's a wrap on our 6-week #MADEx24 Gobi National Geographic expedition! We collected ~4,000 lbs specimens incl. two new theropod species, lots of hadrosaur, ceratopsian, and ornithomimid bones, eggshell, microverts, and chemostrat for our mid-Cretaceous #dinosaur project! Until next year!

Trilled to announce that today, NC Museum of Natural Sciences’s paleontology #citsci project CretaceousCreatures had its NATIONAL launch 🚀 🤩 inside the community where our microfossils derive—Garfield County High School in Jordan #Montana! This year we’ll be all over the USA!

It's 5 a.m. here at European Synchrotron in France, and I've been up for 22 hours 🤪 coding scans of fossils to test whether extinct #dinosaurs produced medullary bone. I feel incredibly lucky to have been trained for this and to spend 5 days in this insanely cool facility!

Our 5-day scanarama @ESRF has ended! We ran 99 scans on 10 specimens in 5 days. I'm exhausted, but what a crazy good time. The data are incredible & the facilities, so cool. Plus wicked to walk around in the middle of the night & see what others were working on in the wee hrs...

Big thanks to The Leverhulme Trust for funding this work. Coauthor Julia Schwab played a huge role, and did some of this work as part of her PhD. And also thanks to our all-star team of coauthors: WitmerLab David Dufeau Lindsay Zanno & many others not on twitter...
