This is Saddell Abbey on Scotland's Kintyre Peninsula, somewhere I believe deserves far more attention. It was founded in 1160 by the great warlord Somerled - half Norse, half Gael - who conquered the west coast to become leader of the semi-independent Kingdom of the Isles.
