In May, FAO provided over USD 1.5 million in cash assistance to support more than 4 400 farming families near the frontline. These funds helped them plant crops, care for livestock, and rebuild rural livelihoods. With the support of 🇦🇹, 🇧🇪, 🇨🇦, 🇫🇮, 🇫🇷 and 🇨🇭.

Last week, Food and Agriculture Organization’s Emergencies Director Rein Paulsen visited a poultry farm in Zaporizhzhia that continues to operate despite destruction caused by the war and frequent power cuts. FAO and GermanForeignOffice provided a generator to help stabilize production and support food security.

Today is the Int–day against Illegal Fishing. Around 26M tonnes of fish are caught illegally each year. In 2024, to support legal, sustainable alternatives, FAO assisted 41 aquaculture farmers and 77 families in Ukraine, helping them earn income and stay in their hromadas.

🌾 June 19 – Ukrainian Farmer Day Despite the war, shelling and landmines, farmers continue to feed communities and support local economy. Since 2022, FAO has supported over 16 000 Ukrainian farmers with seeds, temporary storage, grants and vouchers.

🌱 After fleeing Mykolaiv, Iryna and her family started farming from scratch in Petrivka, Odeska oblast. In 2025, FAO and Посольство Німеччини supported them with seeds and a UAH 16 600 voucher to start farming more effective.

🐝 18 beekeepers from Sumska oblast joined a study tour to "Pasika 21" in Cherkasy. With the support of the Ukrainian Community Recovery Fund and FAO, they explored industrial beekeeping and large-scale honey production, bringing back insights to strengthen war-affected regions
