What an honor to host world-renowned doctor, human rights activist & Nobel Peace Prize recipient Dr. Denis Mukwege at @UMichSPH this week. It was inspiring to hear about his compassionate & courageous work at HĂ´pital G.R de Panzi to treat & support wartime sexual violence survivors.

Last week, I had the opportunity to celebrate a terrific year with Michigan Public Health faculty, staff and students at our annual winter celebration. I always appreciate these moments to pause, reflect and connect with our community as we wrap up the semester.

An important op-ed from my Michigan Public Health colleague Minal Patel on how healthcare cyber attacks are putting lives at risk.

Looking forward to the University of Michigan #MLKDay events Monday, including the Health Science MLK Lecture featuring Dr. David R. Williams. I’m excited to participate in the panel discussion on interdisciplinary approaches to health equity following the lecture. bit.ly/3OQlGxp

The “Let’s Talk” series is available to all University of Michigan students. If you’re looking for #MentalHealth support or resources, this is a great resource.

Fascinating video featuring my @UMichSPH colleague Rahul Ladhania exploring how AI can improve our healthcare system.

Giving consumers easy access to health information is pivotal in helping people make the best health-based decisions for themselves. My @UMichSPH colleague Jennifer A. Garner, PhD RD discusses the public health impact of front-of-package labeling.

Thank you to Dr. Rachel Levine, Sari Reisner, Daphne C. Watkins 👑 and Eli Savit for enlightening discussions on gender and health equity at @UMichSPH’s The Exchange yesterday!

Contamination in our environment can be devastating to our health, as my colleague @JustinColacino tells the The New York Times. It is incredibly important that after disasters, resources and expertise are invested in these affected communities.

A moving personal story from my @UMichSPH colleague @minalrp. In the US 805,000 people have heart attacks each year. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 80% of these cases are preventable -- a staggering gap between what's possible and what's happening.
