This morning Felipe Faleco gave us a valuable tour at the Walnut St Greenhouse about the ongoing Rodrigo Werle projects, including synthetic auxin herbicide dose-response with #waterhemp & effect of different temperatures on synthetic auxin herbicides performance on #waterhemp

If still not sure of the benefits of Harvest Weed Seed Control (HWSC) then look at this pic. Effect of 6 years of HWSC practices vs No HWSC (soybean heavily infested with Palmer amaranth) Michael Flessner Eugene Law GROW.IWM

New #OpenAccess paper out by Felipe Faleco et al: Multiple herbicide resistance in #waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) accessions from Wisconsin Many thanks to the WI farmers & agronomists for submitting waterhemp seed for Faleco's WI Soybean funded project. bit.ly/3uSgQFR

Check the latest #WiscWeeds blog post led by grad student Felipe Faleco (not good news!): Lack of effective #waterhemp control with soil-applied PPO-inhibitor (Group 14) herbicides further highlights the need for integrated weed management practices šwiscweeds.info/posts/2023noveā¦

Update on Felipe Falecoās project investigating if the Wisconsin #waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) population we recently confirmed to be resistant to soil-applied Group 14 PRE herbicides fomesafen (Flextar) & sulfentrazone (Spartan) is also resistant to flumioxazin (Valor) PRE:

This time of the year the Rodrigo Werle team is also busy in the greenhouse. We have an active herbicide resistance monitoring program led by PhD student Felipe Faleco & started a series of #waterhemp phenology studies led by Postdoctoral Research Associate Ahmadreza Mobli

The 2023 #WiscWeeds team! Our team is now tenured UWāMadison! Many thanks to all who contributed to this major achievement & continue to support our mission, including our amazing lab members (former & current), families, friends, mentors, colleagues, sponsors, & clientele!

Yesterday the #WiscWeeds Lab hosted a group of farmers from my hometown in Brazil (this was a very special tour for me). We had a productive day visiting and discussing weed management research and Wisconsin agriculture! Eric Birschbach Shawn Conley Daniel H Smith Chris Proctor

Great day meeting with the Wisconsin Soybean Program discussing check off funded research ! Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board WI Soybean Rodrigo Werle Damon L. Smith

The 2023 North Central Weed Science Society meeting is on the books for the #WiscWeeds team and our grad students are bringing home multiple awards: ā Felipe Faleco: 1st place paper & 2nd place poster ā Jose Junior Nunes: 1st place paper ā Nikola Arsenijevic: 2nd place paper ā Guilherme Chudzik: 1st place poster

Great to see this work out! PPO resistance in giant ragweed due to R98L mutation. Great collaboration between the Tranel Lab with Rodrigo Werle. Felipe Faleco and everyone well done for the great work and collaboration! scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/psā¦

Uhaul to the rescue! Ahmadreza Mobli & Felipe Faleco transporting #waterhemp plants to a field location to be treated with dicamba as part of our Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board herbicide resistance monitoring efforts. Plants are treated outside to mitigate vapor drift concerns within our greenhouses.

Curious about Felipe Faleco's research on characterization of PPO-inhibitor resistance in #giantragweed, multiple herbicide resistance in #waterhemp, and the effect of increased temperatures on #herbicide efficacy? Join us Wednesday, April 23 2025, at 10AM CT!

Congratulations Felipe Faleco on successfully defending your PhD dissertation! The #WiscWeeds team is incredibly proud of all your accomplishments & truly grateful for your many contributions to our research, Extension efforts & Wisconsin agriculture. A big thank you to everyone who
