In Geography, we have been exploring the globe and different maps. The challenge was to find where we live. The children identified the name Fradley on the map 🗺️ and realised that our country is very small on the globe 🌍

This week we have been learning all about 3D shapes, the challenge was the build an effective tower. It didn’t take long to realise spheres are not the best shape to use!
We have been practising using a mouse to create pictures on the laptop. This links to our learning of the different features of a laptop and desktop in Computing.
Kickstarting our #joyousjanuary with a fantastic book from Mrs Allen, where we learn one fact for every day of the year. This has become a wonderful way to end each day at school by discovering a new fact and then recalling it to our grown-ups at home time.
Today we have practised some different breathing techniques that we can do when we have BIG feelings. Miss Yates has also added some new breathing cards to our calm corner to remind us of this calming strategy.
We’ve been busy creating sunrise and sunset pictures as part of our Science learning this week. The children used oil pastels for the first time and blended colours together using their finger.
In D&T we have been designing and making kites! This week we have been creating Carp Kites. We can’t wait until they are finished so that we can test them…
We have been programming Bee-Bots this afternoon to move it from a starting point to a finish point. On some occasions, we had to debug the program to ensure that the Bee-Bot reached the correct destination!
We have been busy finishing off our kites in Year 1. We are hoping that the weather conditions are perfect to fly them today. Do you think they’ll fly? 🪁
