Parfit was surely right to think meta-ethical questions have major practical significance for our lives. To be honest, it amazes me that non-naturalist moral realists and anti-realists are able to coexist in the same discipline, like it didn't really matter. (1/3)

On Truth and Its Importance - in a world of competing narratives, does truth still matter? Professor John Divers takes on this question in this evening’s sold out Philosophy Today talk. Looking forward to a fascinating discussion!

Nigel Warburton and I crossed swords yesterday on whether philosophy is primarily an armchair discipline (me: yes; Nigel: no) at the Public Philosophy event at Oxford Continuing Education for Oxford Literary Festival. Here's something I wrote on it... templeton.org/news/philosoph… Nigel Warburton šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ #FreeUkraine

An amazing resource by two brilliant philosophers (and wonderful people!) which you’d be epistemically irrational not to use if teaching anything in political epistemology, like truth in politics, epistemology of political disagreement, voter ignorance, or distrust of experts!

My first Trinity Monday celebrating the election of new Fellows and Scholars of the College. A massive congratulations to them all - especially to our new Philosophy Scholars that I had the pleasure of examining!

Thinking about the word 'professor': 'profess' can mean to express a quality or belief especially when it is not true or sincere, or to affirm one's faith in, belief, or allegiance to something. Sometimes, it can feel like language itself is making a joke.
