Rob Sluggett Matthew Blair I’m not convinced militant action against the food supply chain is the answer. I’m not sure any random approach to protesting is going to work. But if some see militancy as the way forwards there are several supermarkets that consistently let British farmers down. Disrupting

Interesting you are noticing this as well Douglas Christie. There is an argument for a regen, organic matter building system to require more N, not less. I think my soil is now overdone with carbon and is N deficient.

Keir Starmer makes out that tax breaks for farmers / family businesses are some kind of aberration, but they are actually the NORM in most countries that export food to the UK! I've not seen this argument made much, so here's a thread on how these new IHT rules compare. 🧵

Tissue tests show that every element is higher from the ploughed part of this wheat field. That's what I was expecting, even though the autumn soil tests were identical.

Herbicide hasn't really affected this blackgrass in a linseed crop due to it not growing at application time 3 weeks ago. However, the plants are easy to pull up with hardly any rooting so I don't think they are going to come to much. Linseed is romping away though.

Parliament will debate banning non-stun slaughter on the 9th of June - I will be in attendance, speaking in favour. We live in Britain, we treat our livestock with care. Halal slaughter is a disgustingly cruel way to kill an animal, and it should be banned.

The linseed into ploughed land has now taken over the direct drilled. More flowers, thicker in the rows and 3 inches taller. DD 1st pic, ploughed 2nd.

Show me a farmer claiming not to need any fungicides and I will show you one who is using low rates of nitrogen. It's what we were doing in the 1970s yielding 3 tons/acre of wheat.

Yield is also determined by total biomass, which is driven by nitrogen. A thin crop which is not intercepting all of the sunlight is not going to yield like a thick crop. Doesn't matter where the N comes from, artificial, legumes or free living bacteria, it's what drives yield.
