The Med Sci research day kicked off with an inspiring keynote from Dr. Deb Sloboda Debisvaccinated 💉😷Sloboda 🇺🇦 on science communication to the community through the art of creation exhibit!


The topic of this morning's seminar was using time-aligned topic modelling for microbiome trajectories through pregnancy and into early life by Kate Kennedy


Today the Farncombe Institute hosted Megan Zangara Megan Zangara, PhD from Dr. Brian Coombes, PhD Lab for our weekly noon rounds. Her wonderful talk about the consequences of acute stress in mucosal barrier led to great discussions. Looking forward to seeing this work published!

Great presentation today by Dr. Bergstrom Kirk Bergstrom from UBC Okanagan on the importance of mucus glycosylation in chronic GI disorders! Followed by a great discussion with trainees!!


Thank you Nicola Jones from University of Toronto for joining us today and giving an excellent lecture on the importance of mitochondria in GI disorders and sharing some of your advances in the field of H. Pylori therapy!

Great presentations about the roles of microbiota in different digestive disorders: Emma Giordano on how small intestinal microbiota affect development of IBS from Bercik-Collins Lab and Peter Hall on microbial metabolism of peanut and dairy allergens from Caminero Lab !
