Texas under Greg Abbott doesn’t have the resources to fix ERCOT’s shitty power grid But they have plenty of resources to place bounties on women, punish women & docs, prosecute lawyers who help women, fine companies that help women, prevent women from leaving Texas Cool coolšŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

After serving as the federal government's top infectious disease doctor for 38 years and seven presidencies, Dr. Anthony Fauci has announced that he will retire in Dec. Here he is discussing the AIDS epidemic on PBS News in 1985 (via American Archive of Public Broadcasting) → bit.ly/2AAJp2k

Nosedive. We’ve taken a nosedive on life expectancy and it is largely based on behavioral choices. Historians will be baffled. You mean to tell me they chose death over a mask? Yes, yes they did.

1. The side effects resemble those of the earlier COVID shots. Those include headache, fatigue and soreness or redness at the injection site. The CDC also notes that a fever is a common side effect after booster shots. Chills, muscle pain and joint pain have also been reported.

Dr. Fauci here. I’m taking over the HHS account to talk about the updated COVID-19 vaccine designed to fight the dominant Omicron variant, BA.5, and why you should get one heading into winter. Follow along here. #WeCanDoThis – Dr. Fauci

465 Americans lost their lives today from COVID19. Depending on the org crunching numbers, Covid = 2nd 3rd or 4th leading cause of death on a daily basis in USA. It ain’t over. And some of us expect (me for example) yet another major variant this winter. Get your bivalent booster

NYC schools are already up to 3,052 reported staff and student covid cases just between yesterday and today. We’ve lost students to covid, something Mayor Eric Adams never mentions. We have other students with longterm covid issues. 1/

Here's a scatterplot of health spending per capita (x axis) & life expectancy (y axis) in OECD countries (lines = averages). One country sits alone in the bottom right quadrant due to its much higher spending and below-average life expectancy. Source: oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/ae3016b9…

Maybe surprising, but IMHE now estimates that about 4/5 people in Japan have had COVID-19 at least once (vs. almost 100% in the US). Yet US death toll is 8-fold higher — which is explainable by **when** people were infected: pre- vs. post- vaccination.

I love that the US is dominated entirely by a wholly pointless and parasitic ā€œhealth insuranceā€ industry that has absolutely no objective reason to exist, cures no one, solves nothing, only rent seeks and creates needless Byzantine hurdles to basic care. This is my favorite part

Why weren’t the same people now weirdly obsessing over a shirtless RFK Jr. equally impressed with Fauci running 3 miles a day while being over the age of 80? Because these people don’t actually care about health. Instead it’s all about optics and internet points.
