Blackbirds build deep, cup-shaped nests in shrubs and hedges. Chicks fledge after about two weeks and scatter into nearby cover. Both parents continue to feed them while they learn to forage. #SpringStories

I’m very happy with my replanting of self seeded oaks and horse chestnuts. My island’s of future habitat. Creating infield shade for stock and food and housing for wildlife. Not sure the local hay contractors are quite as happy. But it also creates small refuge sites.

We’ve planted a lot of wet areas with rushes with alder and willow trees in cactus tree guards It’s a no cost way to get more trees in to the farm - and may well create more grazing not less

Was just thinking how I hadn’t seen a hog recently then narrowly missed running one over last week. This afternoon this little chap was out in the day. Gave him a drink and some Dexter beef, removed the tick & sent him on his way, only to find he had two siblings 😊
