A debut that functions superbly as an entertaining creature feature as well as a memorable examination of humanity, THEM (from Lividian Publications) by W.H. Chizmar should be on your horror radar. You can read my review here: fanfiaddict.com/review-them-by…

Nick Cutter lives up to his namesake with this novel. He cuts through your skin with stingers and teeth, leaving you feeling raw. And he cuts into your heart as you watch a friendship fall apart while showing you how good it used to be. Gallery Books fanfiaddict.com/review-the-que…

Life turns on a dime. It’s fitting that I share my essay on Stephen King’s 11/22/63 today. A wallop to my heart, this is a novel that is a love story above all else, extracting poignant tenderness from life’s biggest and smallest moments. Read here: fanfiaddict.com/essays-of-a-re…

A high-octane, gut-churning warpath through our modern society, Clay McLeod Chapman’s Wake Up and Open Your Eyes holds no punches for any one of us. It may just be one of the most timely novels of 2025, and you can read my review here: fanfiaddict.com/review-wake-up…

Leaving no stone unturned, Grady Hendrix’s Witchcraft for Wayward Girls is an emotionally-fueled examination of the power of choice in a landscape marred by inequality, imparting sentiments that are all too timely. My review: fanfiaddict.com/review-witchcr…

Crafted through darkness and grit, Senseless may just be one of Ronald Malfi’s most unhinged novels yet. Incredibly bleak and soaked in crimson, this is a must read for horror fans in 2025. My review here: fanfiaddict.com/review-sensele…

I found myself truly blown away that this novel is from the 80s. It has all the style and heart of a classic gothic ghost novel. FearForAll #FanFiAddict Vintage Books fanfiaddict.com/review-the-wom…

Full of emotional subterfuge and family trauma, Laurel Hightower’s The Day of the Door (from @GhoulishBooks) is one hell of a horror novel, begging the timeless question, “Is this house haunted, or are we?” My review: fanfiaddict.com/review-the-day…

Balancing personal grief horror with larger conspiracies of violence, Night of the Long Knives by Tyler Jones is proof that darkness indeed has sharp teeth. And boy, does it bite. My review: Very big thanks to Earthling Pub for the ARC! fanfiaddict.com/review-night-o…

Here the author has presented a set of seven fantastically different stories. However, each showcases the author’s dexterity and writing know how. A great show of how different stories can still go together. @JHansonHorror #FanFiAddict FearForAll fanfiaddict.com/review-minotau…

It is not hyperbole to say that Nat Cassidy, Post-and-Ghoster’s When the Wolf Comes Home is a genre-defining, champion of a horror novel. My very favorite thing I’ve read from him, this is an earnestly written story infused with fear and anxiety. My review: fanfiaddict.com/review-when-th…

I appreciate how well rounded this anthology is with its diversity of traditions. Stephen Graham Jones, Josh Malerman, and Gemma Files with some standout stories in here too! #FanFiAddict FearForAll fanfiaddict.com/review-christm…

This was awesome frankly. Not only is it a canon story, it’s the first time we see something outside of America in the Walking Dead. Rumors abound in this near-outbreak one off. Robert Kirkman The Walking Dead #FanFiAddict FearForAll #thewalkingdead fanfiaddict.com/review-the-wal…

Very happy to share that I was able to take part in Talking Scared Podcast’s State of the Horror Nation Episode which is now live! I was joined by the wonderful Emily Hughes and Stephanie from Books in the Freezer, two folks I couldn’t admire more! Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

The time has come for me to share my Top 10 Reads of 2024. It was really hard to narrow it down, but this is what I’ve come up with. Featuring: Christopher Paolini @Tom_Dumbrell Stephen King Brian McAuley Baptiste Pinson Wu Shortwave Publishing Alfred A. Knopf Saga Press fanfiaddict.com/c-j-daleys-top…

Tyler Jones Night of the Long Knives is a tale on grief, addiction, and the horrors that visit us when the silence is loudest. Jones juggles conspiracy theories, cults, serial killers and more in this superb example of his writing craft. Earthling Pub NEVER misses.

#5. At Dark, I Become Loathsome by Eric LaRocca is disturbing, raw, unflinching, & the most intimate thing he has written. The way in which LaRocca peels back the layers of the heart & uncovers the wickedness in its depths is truly stunning. Recovery from this one will be tough.
