University of South Australia Professor says restrictions & bans on self-catering have done little to help housing stock. Become a "quick fix" for governments in favour of more complicated plans to ease the housing crisis. share.google/pVHRDA6cJk3cgQ…

The i Paper Why would people who have paid for an apartment wee in a stairwell? In my experience it’s pissed locals on the way home from clubs claiming to be Airbnb guests to gain access to stairs or students having parties when the loo is occupied and there’s 40 people in the flat

The i Paper Katharina is good friends with one of the most vile activists who is set against local, self-catering business owners, so her agenda is clear - to make up ludicrous false truths to suit the tired, old narrative that self-catering flats cause amenity harm. Boring, disproven & sad!

Here are 30 closed down..... another 9 on 3rd September - any news on closure of UNLICENSED STLs?.... no! Also they have added a little explanation for their blanket ban in the minutes - basically they do not discuss the blanket ban applications now! democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/documents/s874…

Half of UK job losses in hospitality... and Scottish Government puts in place punitive visitor levies in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

"The ASSC will constructively engage with Glasgow City Council’s consultation on temporary exemptions. However, this alone may prove insufficient if there is not a balanced regulatory framework overall that enables professional self-caterers to continue operating."

The Scottish Government is leveraging private finance into public electric vehicle charging but I have announced £4.5m for Rural and Islands EV chargers to ensure all parts of Scotland can get improved coverage

Cockburn Association (The Edinburgh Civic Trust)'s objections to a STL below! Seriously, The Cocks have really embarrassed themselves again! So guests apparently only eat out & if they do shop then The Cocks say they really only buy tourist tat- also guests are so dumb they can't operate hairdryers or taps? 🙆‍♀️😫

Ne Obliviscaris Cockburn Association (The Edinburgh Civic Trust) Clearly this means no one should ever go on holiday as clearly when they do they become incapable of functioning and are a menace! I hope the Cockburn follow their own mantra ??

But what is driving the change in attitude? Could it be the realisation it's a tax on all accommodation & all users of services not just tourists. It's on top of 20% vat, the highest in most of Europe, putting us at a strong economic disadvantage. #SaveSC ASSC News

Good news for Scotland’s self-catering sector! The Court of Session appeal in Appelant v Scottish Ministers has been conceded. Govt admits legal flaws in the Reporter’s decision on Class 9 (houses). Case now goes back to DPEA for proper consideration. Clarity + consistency

Rather than helping, #STL legislation has become its own worst enemy - an own goal that fuels a dangerous, untamed holiday-let black market. This is dreadful legislation, punishing law-abiding owners while leaving us exposed to rogue unlicensed lets and potential scams.

This is what happens to visitor spending when you shut down all affordable self catering accommodation and all you are left with is greedy big biz hotels hovering up all the cash. As for families, they don’t even bother coming. #SaveSC

Anyone else struggling to make sense of the economic harakiri being wreaked on the visitor economy by @thesnp? Why continue to use STL licensing to shut thousands of B&Bs and self catering... then compound the damage with a 5% visitor levy.. when you need a strong economy?
