Alaska's wildfire season is on average 60 days longer now than in the 70s. Wildfire managers changed the fire season start date from May 1 to April 1 in 2006. This year due to low snow, they moved it up even earlier to March 17 in the coastal region. frames.gov/afsc/ACWE

Last month @NWfirescience & Northern Rockies Fire Science led the 2nd biannual Hybrid Fire & Fuels Monitoring Workshop in partnership with BIA. After 2 days of virtual instruction, students attended trainings in 2 locations (Yakama or Flathead Reservations) to practice skills & gain confidence.
