🐟🇪🇺At this evening's fisheries committee meeting, I spoke about the urgent need for the European Commission to take measures against Norwegian overfishing in Irish waters. We can't let them continue with the Trump approach - in this case 'Fish, Baby, Fish' - any longer.

Today we had a discussion about Norway over-fishing by 40% above what's agreed. This had led to a reduction of 22% in mackerel quota for Irish fishers. The EU must implement the proposed regulation, which can stop this.

I am delighted to have been reappointed as the Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Fisheries and the Marine. I have worked along with our Irish fishing and seafood industry over the last five years to fight for fairness for our fishing and coastal communities. The fight now continues 💪🏻

Spoke at #PECH Committee about the need for sustainability in #fishing: sustainability for fish stocks and for fishing communities. We need the following: 🔍 Review of the Common Fisheries Policy 📊 Fairer allocation of quotas 🟰 Burden sharing and Use It, or Lose It

Our fishermen are being hauled before the courts on the basis of “inadmissible hearsay evidence”. This has to stop 🛑 donegaldaily.com/2025/04/18/cal…

Today, any my request, the 🇪🇺 #Fisheries Commissioner, @costaskadis, met with stakeholders from 🇮🇪 fishing sector to discuss the challenges. It’s my firm belief that a review of the Common Fisheries Plan is essential if 🇮🇪 fishers are to get fairness, especially post-#Brexit.

🎣 🇮🇪 Great to meet the EU Fisheries Commissioner and my Fianna Fáil colleagues in Castletownbere, county Cork today for European Maritime Day 2025. I reiterated the urgent need to review the Common Fisheries Policy - Irish fishers deserve a fairer deal post-Brexit

📹 Watch: I was disappointed to see some departmental officials trying to dictate policy, not implement it last week. It’s Ministers - elected by the people - who should set the agenda, not the civil service.

Good to meet John Kerry today in Nice. John has been a leader in climate and oceans for decades now. He expressed his appreciation for the role that Ireland is currently playing when it comes to these important global issues.

🎣🇮🇪 During a recent meeting with the EU Fisheries Commissioner in Castletownbere, I made it clear that a review of the Common Fisheries Policy is urgently required and disparities facing Irish fishermen must be addressed.
