On August 22, 2023, we attended a Board of County Commissioners meeting in Port St. Joe to recognize Fire Chief Michael Barrett of South Gulf County Fire Rescue as our 2023 Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year. Congratulations on a well deserved recognition, Chief Michael Barrett!

President Theus spent a week in August meeting with various partner organizations such as Public Consulting Group, AHCA, Florida Department of Health EMS, and Division of State Fire Marshal. We were also onsite alongside the FFMIA to support the Lithium Ion Battery Symposium.

Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation sponsored the Northwest Florida Volunteer Firefighter Weekend. We attended the FFCA Volunteer Fire Officers Section meeting at the Okaloosa Technical College, striving to increase engagement to better support our Florida volunteer firefighters.

Two weeks ago, we held EVT Training hosted by Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District with instruction by Michael Young. Happy to be able to bring EVT training back and the EVT Training Academy will return as part of the Florida Fire Conference in January! Stay tuned!
