Today, we honor U.S. Army Capt. Maria Ines Ortiz, who was killed during a mortar attack in Baghdad on July 10, 2007. Her death marked the first loss of an Army nurse in combat since the Vietnam War. Capt. Ortiz is laid to rest in Section 60. We honor her service.

To celebrate World Horse Day 2025 we have this beautifully illustrated pre-Great War card game for you. The Cavalry Game “…was invented in the hope that it might teach some of our boys and girls the names and numbers of the British Cavalry Regiments”. #WorldHorseDay2025

Yesterday. A long circular walk around the base of Buachaille Etive Beag using the two historic passes between Glen Coe and Glen Etive - the Lairig Eilde and the Lairig Gartain. I finished the day moaning that it was too hot and dry in the Highlands! #Glencoe

'The Old Canal, Bath,' (1927) is a rare painting of figures in the landscape by John Nash who tended to keep his figure studies for interiors. The Kennet & Avon Canal which passes through Bath, is 87 miles long and links London with the Bristol Channel.

James Stroudley worked through a series of influences, from early Italian artists to Cubism, in order to achieve the draughtsmanship that underpins his work. This landscape depicts the cliffs in Saltdean, East Sussex, from around 1940.

Last weekend, Belgian troops marched through London during the Belgian Parade. The Belgian Army is the only non-Commonwealth army allowed to carry arms in the city, a privilege granted by King George V after #WWI 🇧🇪🇬🇧
