Had a great time at #LitdriveCPD25 with my department, splitting up and attending lots of different seminars by Flosspope and other inspiring educators at Aston University! What a conducive atmosphere of education, filled with literature-passionate individuals.

Love this point on Turner from the Guardian's Jonathan Jones. When I teach Prelude I always begin by pointing out that the world's tallest building in 1850 was Strasbourg Cathedral. No photos. No planes. The natural world towered over people in a way it doesn't now.

I've put up on my own website a response to David Didau's blog on my Tes magazine article on what's happening to English teaching. X is too short form to do justice to the ideas being debated, in a full and, hopefully, constructive way. barbarableiman.com/post/a-respons…

The Department for Education has published the new 'The Writing Framework'. This useful framework for teaching writing is for primary schools (but it will be of interest to colleagues in secondary schools & more) See here: gov.uk/government/pub…

Very good (obvs) from Daisy Christodoulou . AI requires a reframing of the part that writing plays in the curriculum. Writing isn't just a test of what you know, it IS the act of learning in itself. (also means a big homework rethink) substack.nomoremarking.com/p/what-is-the-…
