I think it’s time to face the fact that bad people are literally - LITERALLY - going to wipe out most life on earth, including their own.

Male Silver-washed fritillary basking in Cabilla Woods yesterday. It’s a good year for these large butterflies, with over a dozen feeding on a single bramble bush. Cornwall Butterfly Conservation Butterfly Conservation πŸ¦‹ The Wildlife Trusts #butterflies

Light Crimson Underwing βœ”οΈ in the trap this morning 😊. Then as we were going shopping, Julzz found another Catocala on the garden fence, which looked like a Red Underwing. It took off but then circled back so will have to look for it when we get home #teammoth

The rare continental Scarlet Darters are at Silverlake for the second year running. Hopefully this will become an established UK site. Shots taken late morning yesterday.

For environmental reasons I want to use trains wherever possible. But why am I paying double or triple the cost of petrol to not get a seat and stand on an non air conditioned train for two+ hours sweating my balls off. This is an utterly ridiculous system.

Another two visits this afternoon Hummingbird hawkmoth this time favouring the honeysuckle which made getting the angles a little challenging. But what a pleasure to have these wonderful little creatures visit us.

Other notable finds this week, Rare glimpse of a Dingy Shell Moth Euchoeca nebulata, often mistaken for a Butterfly landing with wings closed, frequents Fens & Marshes. Also a parasitic red mite hitching a ride on aptly named Saddle-Back Harvestman! The Wildlife Trusts Sarah L

observed my bees were docile when opened their hive (smoked) -until they smelt my breath, which sent them crazy, so ran 10 foot hose up thro suit to my mouth with old snorkel grip, breathed in thro nose out thro tube so smell piped way away, reduced attacks significantly

quite right, bees may react to any strong smells so I never used any on me nor my clothes, and also rubbed my suit with lemon balm, Melissa, as they love that

William Cobbett thought this an old wive's tale, then logically & in practice, proved contrary, that although such transplanting method works it's more effective done otherwise, in bright sunny weather is his way
