21 years ago today, the US beat GB&I in the Curtis Cup at neighbouring Formby Golf Club. It was a treat to see elite women’s golf on our doorstep — especially with Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, and Brittany Lang all going on to become Major Champions.

The par 5 2nd green is guarded by three perfectly placed bunkers that force the player to commit to their approach, whether running a long club along the ground or attempting to carry all the traps with a lofted club.

The stunning 11th green, beautifully mowed on the peak of a dune ridge, is one of the most natural green complexes you'll ever find.

A bird's-eye view of the 4th hole reveals the clear strategy the architect has laid out: lay up short of the fairway bunker or play aggressively and risk finding all kinds of trouble.

The 16th green sums up our approach to greensites: natural surfaces that sit seamlessly on the landscape, rather than being built up for artificial difficulty. Thoughtfully placed bunkers provide protection, while gentle runoffs create options for recovery with a chip or a putt.
