A big thank you to Rob and his team for consistently presenting the course to such a high standard — day in, day out, for members and visitors alike.

21 years ago today, the US beat GB&I in the Curtis Cup at neighbouring Formby Golf Club. It was a treat to see elite women’s golf on our doorstep — especially with Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, and Brittany Lang all going on to become Major Champions.

Our opening hole offers a gentle start — no bunkers to worry about off the tee, but three well-placed ones waiting to guard the green on your approach.

A great visual of our heather management, where Rob and his team work hard to keep the course equally beautiful and playable. By managing the first 10 yards of heather and leaving the thicker areas out of play, they enhance pace of play and enjoyment for all.

The par 5 2nd green is guarded by three perfectly placed bunkers that force the player to commit to their approach, whether running a long club along the ground or attempting to carry all the traps with a lofted club.

A bird's-eye view of the 4th hole reveals the clear strategy the architect has laid out: lay up short of the fairway bunker or play aggressively and risk finding all kinds of trouble.

The 16th green sums up our approach to greensites: natural surfaces that sit seamlessly on the landscape, rather than being built up for artificial difficulty. Thoughtfully placed bunkers provide protection, while gentle runoffs create options for recovery with a chip or a putt.
