#LVEF and #ICD in Non-ischemic #HFrEF : Insights from #DANISH In patients ≤70 years, LVEF didn't influence ICD benefit, but in those >70, only higher LVEF patients benefited, indicating that lower LVEF in older patients may lead to pump failure, limiting ICD efficacy

Exercise may not make you immortal, but it can protect your telomeres—a marker of cellular aging. This meta-analysis shows small-to-moderate effects on telomere length (effect size 0.3-0.4). Largest effects in older adults and HIT 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃 dlvr.it/THHj8w

SGLT2 inhibitors paradoxically have greater cardiovascular protection in older adults compared to younger adults with T2DM, despite producing less of an a1c reduction. GLP-1 receptor agonists were more cardioprotective in younger people. Add SGTL2 inhibitors may not be as

Thanks Hany Ragy for posting this from the recent IMC LIVE. Here's the full clip of Andreas Gruentzig discussing "Complications" from my interview with him in 1985, just weeks before his untimely death. #AngioHistory

New research has challenged “normal” B12 levels. Even within the “normal” range, lower B12 was linked to: ⚡ Slower cognitive processing 🧠 Delayed brain signal transmission (visual evoked potential latency) 🔬 Structural brain changes Let’s break it down 🧵1/10

🥸 4️⃣ Healthy ageing means preserving independence, physical and cognitive function, and life engagement—not just preventing disease or extending lifespan.

Poor technique overestimates systolic BP by 5–15 mmHg in older adults—leading to overtreatment. This increases by 1.5X risk of falls, syncope, AKI, and cognitive decline. In frail elders, precision in BP measurement is as important as control.
