Thank you Will Forster MP 🔶 for your kind words, which are truly appreciated by all of us here. It was great to see so many MPs taking part in this important debate. It is vital that we work together to achieve a long-term sustainable funding model for Children's Hospices.

Have you heard the term 'normalisation of deviance'? It's where people within an organization become so insensitive to deviant practice that it no longer feels wrong. It becomes the norm as happened with NASA & Challenger It can also have serious consequences for patient care

This reality is the worst part. All of these people know the problems, and sure there’s few who want to make improvements but most just look at some statistics on a page ignoring the fact each of these babies has a family in permanent pain for no reason and they don’t care.

"When you get to a point where 65% of your maternity units are classed as unsafe in a developed country it is an issue of public concern and these are basic thresholds for what a public inquiry entails.”

‘constant negative portrayal’ Yes because these services cost my daughters life. There are no consequences to this apart from a smack on the wrist and told ‘we will learn’. But lessons are never learnt. I am sorry you are sick of hearing about it…!

Frustrating to hear experts say the time for inquires is over. Only with a national inquiry will it be accepted that this problem is endemic and exists everywhere. Otherwise they’ll say it’s doesn’t happen here, and it wasn’t us. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

We're asking for parents who've had a PMRT review or MNSI investigation at any time after January 1st 2019 to use your voice to change care. We have developed a survey to capture parents' views and experiences of these processes. The survey is here - qualtrics.manchester.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_2o…

🚨 Revealed by Health Service Journal that ring fenced maternity safety funding has been slashed by from £95 million to £2 million. This feels really at odds with a health secretary who only a few months ago met with families who’ve experienced devastating harm and loss.

Nancy Cole (@nancycoleitv) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The maternity budget cuts are from ring fenced funding made available following Donna Ockenden’s report into maternity failings at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospitals Trust. It’s clear to see why families feel betrayed and blind-sided.

Whilst people are entitled to dismiss the words of a lawyer on this issue, I could not agree more. The time has come for a public and transparent inquiry into maternity safety. This can only be achieved through a statutory inquiry whatever the flaws in that process

‘And most concerningly of all, we have the normalisation of deaths of women and babies. We must stop, and stop now, with the mindset that these things “just happen”. ‘ Wes Streeting - RoyalCollegeObsGyn Conference 23rd June 2025

At long last & after campaigning from groups like ⁦Maternity Safety Alliance⁩ we will have a national inquiry into maternity care over the last 15 years. It won’t change the harm that’s already been caused but gives hope for a brighter future in #maternitycare bbc.com/news/articles/…

Emily Barley (@emilyjbarley) 's Twitter Profile Photo

It IS much like previous national reviews (which led to more avoidable harm). It IS a hastily thrown together plan after the previous one was ditched on Tues. If it's done well it'll conclude we need a statutory public inquiry. If it's done badly it'll be another cover up. 2/2

Selfishly hoping that MBRRACE is taken into account and SWB NHS Trust is reviewed as the trust with worst recurrent ‘red’ record. The 10 should focus on a cross section of maternity, not only high profile failures. Avoidable deaths at every trust should be part of be a full PI.

Felicity Benyon (@felicitybenyon) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If you’re unsure why we’re still calling for a public inquiry, this article goes into a bit about what the differences are and why. Only a PI will hold people to account and that is why so many are resistant

Aubrey’s Dad (@dadofaubrey) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The PMRT is not fit for purpose. Allowing an institution to self report on circumstances where the outcome is a death is deeply flawed, especially when families cannot attend. Injustices will continue as long as this is all that some families are allowed.
